Abstract
1: 3-Bis-phenylamino-propane, an aromatic di-secondary diamine derived from 1: 3-diaminopropane, has been investigated, especially as regards its reactivity towards acids and their derivatives, isocyanates, mustard oils, ketenes, chloronitrobenzenes and aldehydes. The amine, which has so far been described in the literature as a liquid, was prepared in a pure state and obtained in the solid condition. It has antioxidant properties for rubber. The nitration of various nitro-, methyl-, halogeno- and halogenonitroderivatives of 1: 3-bis-phenylamino-propane is also described in this paper.
