Abstract
To evaluate the effects of sea buckthorn extracts on digestive function in weaned piglets, 24 Landrace×Large White weaned piglets at (28±2) d of age were randomly allotted into the treatment and control group, respectively. Each group was randomly assigned to a diet containing 0 or 0.1% of sea buckthorn extracts. Each treatment was replicated using three repititions with four piglets. Experimental period was 28 d. The results showed that both jejunum villus height and the activities of digestive enzymes of weaned piglets increased significantly by sea buckthorn extracts (P0.05), others were not significantly (P0.05). The results suggest that digestive function is improved by diet containing 0.1% sea buckthorn extracts, thereby weaned stress is alleviated.
Sea buckthorn extracts significantly improve digestive function and alleviate weaned stress in weaned piglets, reducing stress during the transition period.
