Abstract
Bapta buffers can control calcium outside or inside cells. They can be introduced into cells as permeant tetramethyl ester.Erythrocyte samples in 1 mM Bapta tetramethyl ester solution were incubated at various temperatures for 60 min. This study shows that changes in cell deformation and heamolisis in the control preparation and Bapta tetramethyl ester preparation are the same at various temperature. When human erytrocytes are treated with Bapta tetramethyl ester the activity of Na·Ka-ATPase goes through a sharp maximum centered at about 45℃, while the activity in control centered at 50℃.The present investigation indicates that it is not toxic to human erythrocyte at cytosotic concentrations above about 1 mM.
Bapta tetramethyl ester is not toxic to human erythrocytes at cytosotic concentrations above about 1 mM, regulating calcium levels in cells during hyperthermia.
