Abstract
1. An investigation was made of the nucleophilic replacement of the chlorine of the chloromethyl group of (chloromethyl)ethoxysilanes in absence of solvents. In presence of catalytic amounts of HCl or organic acids reaction goes in good yield at moderately high temperatures. 2. A mechanism was proposed for the replacement of the chlorine of (chloromethyl)ethoxysilanes and was confirmed experimentally. 3. The following new compounds were synthesized: (ethoxydimethylsilyl)methyl acetate, (diethoxymethylsilyl)methyl acetate, and (triethoxysilyl)methyl acetate.
