Abstract
The reaction of disodium salt of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane with a twofold molar amount of 4-nitro-N-methylphthalimide under the conditions ensuring aromatic nucleophilic nitrosubstitution produced 2,2-bis[4-(methylphthalimido-4-oxy)phenyl]-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane. Its hydrolysis and subsequent dehydration yielded dianhydride of the corresponding tetracarboxylic acid. Polycondensation of this dianhydride with mono-, di-, tri-, or tetraphenyl aromatic diamines in m-cresol produced soluble aromatic polyimides with low melt viscosity.
This study presents a method for producing soluble aromatic polyimides with low melt viscosity by combining 2,2-bis(4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane with 4-nitro-N-methylphthal
