Abstract
In the presence of dichlorotris(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II), trichloro- and dichloro-acetic acid were found to react with 1-alkenes under mild conditions to afford 4-alkyl-2,2-dichloro- and 4-alkyl-2-chloro-γ-butyrolactones, respectively, in good yields.
