Abstract
Saunas, whirlpools, and hot tubs have become very popular in recent years. While these luxuries can soothe you after a tough day, take into consideration the following before using: You should limit your stay in one of these luxuries to no more than ten minutes at a time. Prolonged higher elevation of the body temperature may damage the heart, brain, and nervous system. Always cool down first. Don't run from your aerobics class and jump into the hot tub. Make sure your heart rate is below 100 beats per minute. Avoid alcohol before and during use. Alcohol causes blood vessels in your skin to dilate, which diverts the blood flow from your heart and brain, and can lead to dizziness, fainting or nausea. Avoid dehydration. If you regularly use a hot tub, sauna or whirlpool, add two or more glasses of water to your daily intake. If you have exercised before using, you may be further dehydrated from your workout so drink plenty of water before and after exercising and your hot tub session. If you have heart disease or high blood pressure, check with your doctor before using a hot tub, sauna or whirlpool. And if youare pregnant, you should avoid using them entirely. investigated Cass City police a pair recently of corn- Bakery St., tk Nov.
