Abstract
A variety of Chromium(VI) complexes have been prepared and tested to be effective oxidants, 4-(dimethylamino)pyridinium chlorochromate is one of them. The kinetics of 4-(dimethylamino) pyridinium chlorochromate (DMAPCC) oxidation reaction with cobalt (III) bound and unbound α-hydroxy acids have been studied in 0.10 mol dm−3 HClO4 at 30 ± 0.2oC. From the kinetic and stoichiometric results with product analyses a suitable mechanism has been proposed.
4-(dimethylamino) pyridinium chlorochromate effectively oxidizes cobalt (III) bound and unbound -hydroxy acids, with a proposed mechanism for its oxidation.
