Synthesis reaction principles of 2-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine were analyzed and summarized. It's pointed out that,N occupying on the pyridine ring and whether there is electron withdrawing group onαsite determine the feasibility of side-chain chlorination;in synthesis reaction,the difficulty of chlorinating is negatively correlated with the difficulty of fluorinating.

The synthesis of 2-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is influenced by N occupying on the pyridine ring and the presence of electron withdrawing groups, with the difficulty of chlorinating being negatively correlated with the difficulty of fluorinating.
