Abstract
Synthesis process of 2-chloro-6-methylaniline was investigated and A new method for the preparation of 2-chloro-6-methylaniline is put forward in this paper, which use diphenylurea to protect ammonia and use sodium chlorate to instead of hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in chlorination.2-methylaniline as the raw material, and urea are combined to produce N,N'-Bis(2-methylphenyl)urea,then treated with chlorosulphonic acid and ammonia yielding the N,N'-Bis(2-methylphenyl)urea-4,4'-Bisbenzenesulfonic amide, which was in turn hydrolyzed, chlorinated and hydrolyzed to the title compound.
This study presents a new method for preparing 2-chloro-6-methylaniline using diphenylurea and sodium chlorate, resulting in a more efficient and environmentally friendly process.
