4,6-Dimethoxy-2-methylsulfonylpyrimidine was synthesized using sulphur urea and diethyl malonate as raw materials. The process was novel and simple. It is an important intermediate, especially for the preparation of 2-(4,6-dimethoxy)-pyrimidyloxy -N-het/aryl-benzylamine derivatives, a green novel pesticide.
