5-diethylaminomethyl-6-methylpyrimidine-2,4-dihydroxyl-dione was synthesized by way of the reaction of 6-methylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione with diethylamine and formaldehyde in ethanol.Various factors affecting the reaction yield were studied.The structure of the product was identified by means of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.Moreover,mouse ear swelling test was carried out to evaluate anti-inflammatory activity of the product.Results show that product 5-diethylaminomethyl-6-methylpyrimidine-2,4-dihydroxyl-dione has remarkable anti-inflammatory activity.

5-diethylaminomethyl-6-methylpyrimidine-2,4-dihydroxyl-dione shows remarkable anti-inflammatory activity, making it a promising candidate for pharmaceutical applications.
