Abstract
Synthesis of a series of novel sulfonamide and carbamate derivatives of 5-chloro-2-phenoxy-aniline ( 1 ), were prepared by reacting( 1) with various substituted sulfonylchlorides and chloroformates in the presence of triethylamine in THF at 50 0 C.Their structures were established by IR, 1 H, 13 C-NMR, Mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Their invitro antimicrobial activity was evaluated and the title compounds 2a, 2e, 3a and 3d exhibited excellent activity against all the bacterial strains, 2a and 3a showed good activity against E.coli and P. Vulgaris.
Novel sulfonamide and carbamate derivatives of 5-chloro-2-phenoxyaniline show excellent antimicrobial activity against various bacterial strains, with 2a and 3a showing good activity against E.coli and P. Vulgaris.
