Abstract
2,2-Dimethylolheptanoic acid was prepared from 2,2-dimethylolheptaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide via oxidation. The structure of 2,2-dimethylolheptanoic acid was confirmed by IR and 1H NMR and 13C NMR.The results showed that the optimun conditions were as follows:molar ratio of hydrogen peroxide to 2,2-dimethylolheptaldehyde was 1.1∶1,reaction time was 8 h,the quality ratio of water to 2,2-dimethylolheptaldehyde was 3∶1,reaction temperature was 70 ℃,pH value was 4.The yield of 2,2-dimethylolheptanoic acid was 57.6%.
The optimal conditions for preparing 2,2-dimethylolheptanoic acid are 1.1:1 hydrogen peroxide:2,2-dimethylolheptaldehyde ratio, 8 hours reaction time, 3:1 water:2,2-dimethylolheptaldehyde ratio
