Synthesis of the enantiomers of diethyl 2,3-diisopropylsuccinate and the application of them in polypropylene catalyst

Abstract
The different enantiomers of diethyl 2,3-diisopropylsuccinate(DISE) were prepared and used as internal donors in the polypropylene catalyst.It has been proved in this work that only the Di-D-menthyl-(+)-2,3-diisopropylsuccinate synthesized by D-menthol could be purified through crystallization,which is the key point in the preparation of the corresponding diethyl(+)-2,3-diisopropylsuccinate.The affects of the different enantiomers of DISE as the internal donor on the polypropylene catalyst were also studied.The results showed that both of the enantiomers of DISE could endow the catalyst with the excellecent performance and showed no significant differences in spite of the different molecular conformation.
Both enantiomers of diethyl 2,3-diisopropylsuccinate (DISE) show excellent performance in polypropylene catalysts, despite their different molecular conformation.
