Abstract
The synthesis of (4-(trifluoromethyl)-hexahydro-4-hydroxy-1-methyl-6-aryl- 2-thioxopyrimidin-5-yl)(4-methoxyphenyl)methanone can be achieved from amixture of 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(4-methylphenyl)butane-1,3-dione, an appropriate aldehyde, N-methylthiourea and catalytically amount of concentrated hydrochloric acid in ethanol was heated under reflux condition. Elemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectral data established identification of the compounds. Products were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity using cup plate method[1]. Some of the obtained compounds showed the interesting antimicrobial activity.
The synthesis of (4-(trifluoromethyl)-hexahydro-4-hydroxy-1-methyl-6-aryl-2-thioxopyrimidin-5-yl)(4-methoxyphenyl)methanone derivatives yields compounds with interesting antimicrobial activity.
