New N-(2-hydroxy-4(or 5)-nitro/aminophenyl)benzamide and phenylacetamide derivatives show broad antibacterial and antifungal activity against various microorganisms, with benzamide derivative 1d showing the greatest activity against drug-resistant bacteria.
