Abstract
The compound 2-(2′,6′-dimethyl-1′,5′-heptadiene)-4,5-dimethyl-1,3-oxathiolane was synthesized by the reaction of citral with 3-sulfhydryl-2-butanol in the presence of magnesium bromide.In contrast with p-toluene sulfonic acid,calcium chloride,ferric chloride and cupric sulfate,the synthesis under the catalysis of magnesium bromide possessed such advantages as higher yield,milder conditions,less side-reactions and easy handling.When the mole percent of magnesium bromide was 0.68 % of citral and the reactant molar ratio was 1∶1,the yield could reach 78%.Moreover,GC,IR,GC/MS were employed to analyze the products,and the analysis was discussed in detail.
