Abstract
Abstract The synthesis of 2-(α-furyl)-2-(α-thienyl)hexamethyltrisilane is described. Photolysis of 2 in the presence of cyclohexene and methanol led to apparent radical reaction. It is proposed that the sulfur atom of thienyl group strongly stabilized an initially formed silyl radical. This idea was supported by identifying typical radical reaction products.
The synthesis of 2-(-furyl)-2-(-thienyl)hexamethyltrisilane and its photolysis in cyclohexene and methanol reveal that the sulfur atom of the thienyl group strongly stabilizes an initially formed silyl radical
