Synthesis condition research of dimethyl 5-( 1-methyl-1-methoxycarbonylmethyloxy) isophthalate was investigated.The best reaction condition was generated though esterification with methanol,followed by reaction with methyl 2-chloropropionate occurred to form a dimethyl 5-( 1-methyl-1-methoxycarbonylmethyloxy) isophthalate at60% yield.The research of optical activity of the compound showed that the reaction mechanism was SN1 process.

The best synthesis condition for dimethyl 5-( 1-methyl-1-methoxycarbonylmethyloxy) isophthalate is esterification with methanol followed by reaction with methyl 2-chloropropionate, yielding 60% yield and a SN1 reaction mechanism.
