Abstract
When hens were given a feed with level of 500ppm Beclotiamine they layed eggs with level the drug on the third day of administration. The concentration of beclotiamine increased rapidly thereafter and reached maximum concentrations of 0.56-0.91ppm at the end of 15 days of administration period. After withdrawal of the drug, beclotiamine concentration in yolk decreased rapidly and reached to the level undetectable by chemical assay after 6 to 12 days.Beclotiamine was not detected in egg albumens during and following treatment of laying hens with the drug in feed. The concentrations of free-thiamine and thiamine diphosphate in egg yolk was not affected by feeding beclotiamine at 500ppm in the feed.
Feeding laying hens with 500ppm beclotiamine in feed increases beclotiamine concentrations in egg yolks, but does not affect free-thiamine and thiamine diphosphate concentrations.
