Abstract
Abstract 2-fluoropyridine is selectively prepared by Cl/F exchange from 2-chloropyridine at 380 °C with HF as the fluorinating agent and a metal oxide catalyst. Various catalysts such as MgO, CeO2, Ce0.5Zr0.5O2, LaFeO3, and Cr2O3, presenting various acid–base properties were compared. MgO, the most basic solid, is the most active for the formation of 2-fluoropyridine.
