Abstract
Abstract A method for the small scale synthesis of O -succinyl- l -homoserine, which is well suited for the preparation of radioactive material, is described. The procedure consists of three steps (t-butoxycarbonylation of the amino group, succinylation of the N -t-butoxycarbonyl (BOC) homoserine, and removal of the t-butoxycarbonyl group) all of which are carried out in a single vessel, thus avoiding the losses which accompany transfers and isolation of intermediates. The final product purified by paper electrophoresis and crystallization has a radiochemical purity of 99% or greater.
