Abstract
Abstract Chlorotris(triphenylphosphine)rhodium(I), chlorocarbonylbis(tri- phenylphosphine)rhodium(I), hydridocarbonyltris(triphenylphosphine)rhodium(I), rhodium trichloride(III) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)platinum(0) have been attached to the surface of a silica support containing bound-PPh 2 groups via ligand exchange reactions. A rhodium complex, RhCl(PPh 3 ) 3 , has also been linked to the phosphinated polystyrene support. The catalytic properties of such heterogenized catalysts have been investigated in hydrosilylation of hexene-1 and compared with those of the corresponding homogeneous analogs. The initial activity of all but one supported catalyst has been found to be appreciably higher than those of their homogeneous counterparts. The effect of ligand phosphine to metal ratio on catalyst hydrosilylation efficiency has been studied. Data on initial activity of regenerated and re-used catalysts are presented.
