Abstract
The decomposition of aluminium sulphate hydrate, Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 .18H 2 O was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TG, DTG) and a simultaneous thermoanalytical method. The purposes of this study were to reveal intermediate compounds and to determine the stable temperature range of each compound. Various sample weights and heating rates were used to demonstrate their influence on the results. The quasi-isothermal quasi-isobaric technique was used as a new method to prepare different hydrate phases of aluminum sulphate.
