Abstract
(Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate admixed with (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate was found to be a powerful attractant for ♂ Eurois occulta moths. Mixtures containing 20–30% of the 2nd compound gave best capture rates in the field trapping experiments. Twenty-four compounds tested for synergism and inhibition revealed 3 inhibitors: (Z)-11-hexadecenol, (Z)-9-tetradecenol and (Z)-9-tetradecenal. Electroantennogram analysis and field test results correlated well for this species. A survey of the presence of this somewhat rare moth was carried out at several points in western Canada.
