Abstract
SUMMARY 4-Hydroxy 3-methoxy mandelic acid (HMMA), and methylated catecholamines, in the urine of eight tetanus patients have been measured by various methods; results have been assessed in the light of the specificity of the methods and possible interference from drug therapy. Although at some stage of their illness, six of the eight cases showed elevated concentrations of catecholamine metabolites, these did not correlate with episodes either of hypertension or of cardiovascular instability, except in a few instances.
