Abstract
Abstract Fluoridation transformation of Y2(OH)5NO3·nH2O precursors was investigated under various conditions, resulting in the formation of yttrium-based hydrophilic fluorides YF3, MYmFn or Y(OH)3-mFm without using any organic compounds. Correlations were established between fluoridation products and the variables like acidity, alkalinity and the content of source fluorine. Extensive fluoridation of Y2(OH)5NO3·nH2O was found to change the charge state of host layers and promote cations to participate in fluoridation process to form ternary yttrium-based fluorides. Fluoridation products of Y(OH)2.02F0.98: Eu3+, Tb3+ have Color-tunable luminescence properties and can be applicated in phosphors.
