Abstract
Bromanil (BA) doping of a naphthalene pitch, a kind of soluble carbonaceous material, enhanced the photoresponse of the junction between this material and a p-type silicon substrate by about tenfold. Morphological and spectroscopic studies revealed that the enhancement was partly caused by an increase in the surface roughness of the carbonaceous films, and by the enhanced dissociation of excitons in the carbonaceous films upon the BA doping.
