Abstract
An improved method for synthesis of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine was reported.Tris(2-chloroethyl)amine hydrochloride was prepared by reaction of triethanolamine with thionyl chloride in chloroform.Subsequently,tris(2-chloroethyl)amine hydrochloride reacted with potassium phthalimide in DMF at 70 ℃ to form 2,2′,2″-triphthalimidotriethylamine,which was then hydrolyzed with 1∶1 hydrochloric acid.The tren salt obtained thereof was finally neutralized with KOH in methanol to give the desired product tren.The overall product yield was up to 65.4%.
