Abstract
Abstract This review describes our recent results and other relevant studies into the preparation and structures of metal complexes with the sulfur-bridged bis-pyridine ligand 4,4′-dipyridyldisulfide (4DPDS). More than 30 structurally characterized 4DPDS complexes of various structural types including macrocycles, zigzags, helices and repeated rhomboids are known. Although 4DPDS is a simple bridging ligand, its twisted structure and axial chirality provide structural diversity as well as guest inclusion properties for the complexes.
