Abstract
We felt that 1,5-diiodonaphthalene (2) would be ideally suited for our purposes, since it was potentially a precursor both of organometallic reagents and of compounds derived from nucleophilic substitution. Also, 2 could be prepared readily from commercially available 1,5-diaminonaphthalene (1) by diazotization/KI. This paper describes our efforts in the preparation of 1,5-disubstituted naphthalenes derived from 2
This paper presents the preparation of 1,5-disubstituted naphthalene derivatives from 1,5-diiodonaphthalene, a promising precursor for organometallic reagents and nucleophilic substitution.
