Abstract
Abstract d -Glucosamine hydrochloride treated with 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene and sodium hydrogen carbonate gave 2-deoxy-2-(2,4-dinitroanilino)- d -glucose in a yield up to 95%. On the basis of this reaction, which can also be applied to d -galactosamine hydrochloride, it is possible to estimate quantitatively 10 μg of hexosamine hydrochloride at a concentration of at least 25 μg per ml. 2-Deoxy-2-(2,4-dinitroanilino)- d -galactose may be separated from the d -glucose analog by thin-layer chromatography.
