Abstract
1,4-Bis(3-methoxythiophene-2-yl)benzene with two ferrocenyl groups was prepared as a model compound for a molecular wire with terminals. The electrochemical measurements and the absorption spectroscopy of the compound were performed to elucidate the oxidation process and the oxidized states, respectively. The oxidized species on the terminal moieties seep into the wire moiety. The spin distribution of 1,4-bis(3-methoxy-5-methyl)benzene was estimated from electron spin resonance measurements.
