Abstract
Abstract Poly-4-methyl-1-pentene is a transparent, isotactic high melting point polymer used in different application areas. Its dielectric performance is the same as biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) which is largely used dielectric material for a capacitor. Polymer composites can be used significantly in energy storage applications for electrical capacitors by making proper selection of appropriate polymer matrix (eg. poly-4-methyl-1pentene) and reinforcement with their appropriate composition and processing. The industrial sector demands capacitors with high energy density, high breakdown strength, low dielectric loss, and preferably capable of operating at high temperatures. Due to high commercial demand, it has attracted the attention of researchers around the world. Poly-4-methyl-1-pentene polymer is found suitable matrix material to offer desirable results. The present work attempts to summarise all the novel research studies conducted on poly-4-methyl-1-pentene composites for energy storage applications i.e. patents available in this field. It also provides an up-to-date research document for the ready reference of the researchers/scientists engaged in the area of Polymer composites. Patent Landscape Report includes patent databases like Espacenet, patent lens, google patent, and application such as MS Excel, origin, and PatCite. This is an exhaustive report and can be considered as a handbook reflecting the gradual exploration in the development of polymer composites and their applications in energy storage.
