Abstract
Publisher Summary Biotin l -sulfoxide occurs in the culture filtrates of various microorganisms. It has been prepared by the oxidation of biotin with 1 mole of hydrogen peroxide and by fractional crystallization of the resulting mixture of biotin d -sulfoxide and biotin l -sulfoxide. It can be prepared more conveniently and in better yield by the oxidation of biotin with 1 mole of hydrogen peroxide and treatment of the resulting mixture of sulfoxides with 1 N hydrochloric acid. This method is described in the chapter in detail.
