Abstract
The oxidation of tetracyano(N-benzyl-1,2-ethanediamine) with one equivalent oxidant, hydrogen peroxide or peroxodisulfate, under neutral or basic conditions yielded tetracyano(2-benzylimino-ethylamine)ferrate(II), owing to an acceleration of disproportionation by the presence of N-henzyl substituents. Further oxidation yielded the corresponding conjugated 1,2-diimineferrate(II) complex.
