Abstract
3-Hydroxy-1-adamantanecarboxylic acid is synthesized by oxidation reaction using adamantanecarboxylic acid as raw material, and nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid as oxidants. The highest yield of 3-hydroxy-1-adamantanecarboxylic acid is 77%under the optimal reaction conditions. The structures of product have been identified by IR,1HNMR, element analysis and melting point measurement, etc. Finally, the possible reaction mechanism is proposed.
