Abstract
4-hydroxybenzyl cyanide was synthesized from 4-hydroxybenzeneacetamide in toluene by dehydration reaction using Bu2SnO as the catalyst.The influences of the quantity of Bu2SnO,the reaction temperature,the reaction time and the quantity of tolueno on the yield of 4-hydroxybenzyl cyanide were investigated.The optimum reaction conditions were: Bu2SnO being 15 percent of 4-hydroxybenzeneacetamide by mass,reaction temperature 110℃,reaction time 12 h and toluene six times of 4-hydroxybenzeneacetamide by mass.Under the optimum conditions,the yield of e4-hydroxybenzyl cyanide was 95.3%.In addition,the product was characterized by melting point,IR and 1H NMR spectrometry.
