Abstract
Abstract 2′-Hydroxy-1,1′-binaphthyl-2-yl phosphate 4 reacts with various alkylating agents under controlled conditions to give differently alkylated phosphoric esters 5–9. The monoalkylation of binaphthol 1 with long-chain alkyl halides followed by reaction with phosphoryl chloride, propane-1,3-sultone or chlorosulfuric acid, respectively, yielded the amphiphilic binaphthyl derivatives 14–17. The compounds prepared were fully characterized by spectroscopic methods.
