Abstract
Abstract Trans-[Mo2(μ-O2CCH3)2Cl2(μ-dppma)2] (2) can be synthesized from Mo2(μ-O2CCH3)4 (1), trimethylchlorosilane and bis(diphenylphosphino)methylamine (dppma) (3) at room temperature. In contrast to the related compounds containing dppa (bis(diphenylphosphino)amine) this molecule displays significant torsion angles in both the acetato and the diphosphine ligands and significantly shorter MoCl bond distances. These differences are also reflected in the spectroscopic data. Crystallographic data for 2 are as follows: I2 ( No. 5), a = 13.056(3), b = 14.814(4), c = 14.954(4) A , β = 100.76(1)°, V = 2841(1) A 3 , Z = 2.d( MoMo ) = 2.172(1) A . For comparison with compound 2 the free ligand, dppma (3), was also examined by X-ray crystallography. Crystallographic data are as follows: Pna21 (No. 33), a = 13.5061(2), b = 14.3943(2), c = 11.231(3) A , V = 2183.5(5) A 3 , Z = 4 .
