Abstract
Potassium tetraphenylborate(KBPh 4) is a typical electrolyte containing large anion. Its transfer properties with different solvents are important for calculating the transfer thermodynamic properties of macromolecule electrolytes, and provides theoretical basis for extraction and chromatogram etc. Solubility of potassium tetrophenylborate in water and 2 propanol solvent mixtures at 288.15K, 298.15K, 308.15K and 318.15K were determined by spectrophotometer. The activity coefficients, degrees of association, thermodynamic solubility constants, standard transfer Gibbs energies (Δ tr G m 0 ), standard transfer entropies (Δ tr S m 0 ) and standard transfer enthalpies (Δ tr H m 0 ) were calculated according to the relationships of thermodynamic functions. And the effects of temperature on the transfer ability of KBPh 4 from water to water and 2 propanol solvent mixtures were discussed as well. The transfer abilities of KBPh 4 increased with the increase of temperature while the contents of 2 propanol were lower.
