Abstract
1,3-Dinitrobenzene ( m -dinitrobenzene) is used primarily in the synthesis of explosives. It persists in the environment and presents an inhalation and dermal contact risk. Dinitrobenzene is slow to degrade in the environment but shows little evidence of bioaccumulation. There are effects on the male reproductive system (in rats) but no evidence of carcinogenicity.
