Abstract
The hydroboration of 3-methoxy-18-norestra-1,3,5(10),13(18)-tetraene in an anti-Markovnikov sense leads to the formation of two diastereomeric alcohols which have been separated by high-performance liquid chromatography or fractional crystallization of their 17-p-chlorobenzoates. The assignment of the absolute configuration of the title compound, C25H27ClO3, has been carried out by X-ray analysis.
