Abstract
The formation of 2,3-dihydrothiophene (2,3-DHT) has been proposed as the first step in the hydrosulfurization of thiophene. The preparation of a variety of phosphine-substituted tungsten complexes, which potentially could coordinate through the olefin on the sulfur on the catalyst surface, are reported. The structure of a 2,3-DHT compound is also reported as determined from x-ray data. 15 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs.
