Abstract
Abstract The 104000xg supernatant of homogenates from rat kidney catalyses the oxidation of DL,2-hydroxystearate to the corresponding 2-keto acid which is decarboxylated in the microsomal fraction. Two 2-hydroxy fatty acid oxidases, specific for the D and L isomers respectively, have been separated. The activity of these partially purified oxidases decreases in the absence of NAD+.
