Abstract
Bis (2-methoxyethyl) ether (CASRN 111-96-6) is an inert ethereal organic solvent that does not occur in nature. Because of its excellent solvating properties, its most extensive use is as a solvent and an anhydrous reaction medium for organometallic synthesis. The acute toxicity of bis (2-methoxyethyl) ether is low after oral or inhalation exposure. It is slightly irritating to the eyes and skin. Bis (2-methoxyethyl) ether is a strong teratogen with its main targets after repeated intake is in male animals in the reproductive organs.
