Abstract
The structure of the title compound (4MePBA), C14H12O2, resembles those of phenyl benzoate (PBA) and 4-methoxyphenyl benzoate (4MeOPBA), with similar geometric parameters. The dihedral angle between the phenyl and benzene rings in 4MePBA is 60.17 (7)°, compared with the values of 55.7° for PBA and 56.42 (3)° for 4MeOPBA. The molecules in the title compound are packed with the methylphenyl rings parallel to the bc plane and the benzoyl rings perpendicular to this plane.
