Abstract
9-Borabicyclo [3.3.1] nonane (9-BBN) was used as a reducing agent for the single step synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) having an average size of 3.3 nm. The 9-BBN induced synthesis was successful in the presence of a wide range of ω-functionalized thiol ligands and used to produce silver, palladium, and platinum nanoparticles with average diameters of <5.0 nm.
