Abstract
Abstract The use of trifluoromethanesulphonic acid (Triflic' acid) as an acid catalyst in Friedel-Crafts acylations results in much improved yields of the derivatives of 3,4-dimethylphosphaferrocene ( I ) whereas Lewis acid catalysts result in extensive decomposition. The method also provides a rapid route to the acylated derivatives of 3,3′4,4′-tetramethyldiphosphaferrocene ( II ) and ferrocenes.
